Erin Moran, an actress best known for playing Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi, after a short—and secret—battle with stage 4 cancer. Now, the people who worked with her have come together to pay their respects.
reports that her former Happy Days costars reunited during her memorial. Scott Baio (Chachi), Ron Howard (Richie), Don Most (Ralph), Cathy Silvers (Jenny), Marion Ross (Marion), and Anson Williams (Potsie) gathered to celebrate Moran's life.
Baio posted a group photo on social media:
Howard recently opened up about his costar's death on The Talk, saying he had no idea she was sick. "What a great, irrepressible spirit, and a wonderful talent," he said, recalling how she once hit costar Henry Winkler with a pie. "The Erin event really did hit hard and [was a] shock." Some other former costars, like Williams, knew she was sick, before she died.
Winkler, who played Fonzie, couldn't make the memorial because he was on a book tour, but provided a statement to the day after Moran died. "I will always remember Erin with her sweet smile that greeted me on the very first day I walked onto the set of 'Happy Days' in 1974," he said. "She was only nine years old. For the next 10 years that smile never faded. Unfortunately yesterday it did. My condolences go out to her family. She will always be locked in my heart."
