It's been nearly one month since Senator John McCain died of brain cancer on August 25, and his daughter, Meghan McCain, is still understandably mourning the loss of her late father.
On Instagram Thursday, Meghan shared a screenshot of a telephone conversation she had with her dad when he was alive. The photo reveals that Meghan had John listed as "Dad" in her s, and they chatted on that particular day for almost a full hour.
Meghan shared in the caption that the chat was "from one of our Sunday calls," which implies she and John had a close relationship and kept in touch quite frequently. The 33-year-old also took the opportunity to cite a quote from C.L. Lewis's , writing, "The death of a beloved is an amputation."
Meghan, who is one of the co-hosts on The View, has not returned to her job on the daytime talkshow (even though Season 22 premiered on September 4), because she's taking some much needed time to grieve.
Her friend, CNN host S.E. Cupp, appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen earlier this week and shared that Meghan is "still working through [her father's death]."
“It’s been really hard on her," Cupp said, according to .
The day after John's death was announced, Meghan paid a special tribute to her father on social media, writing in part, "I was with my father at his end, as he was with me in my beginning. In the thirty-three years we shared together, he raised me, taught me, corrected me, comforted me, encouraged me, and supported me in all things. He loved me and I loved him. He taught me how to live."
