All dogs go to heaven, but it turns out that heaven is in the mountains near Santa Bárbara de Heredia, Costa Rica. That's the home to the Territorio de Zaguates, also known as land of the strays or street dogs.
The puppy palace is a free-range shelter for rescues, and there are over 900 dogs living there at any given time. They can climb the lush, green countryside hills, sip water from streams, snuggle in the sun, and generally live their best, most enviable lives.
Territorio de Zaguates translates best to "territory of the mixed ones," and aside from giving these pups a home, the shelter's mission is to heighten the desirability and popularity of mixed breeds. All the dogs at the Territorio are adoptable, and you can check out their for more info about volunteering, donating, and adopting.
It only takes a few photos of this paradise to wonder how anyone would want a fancy pure-bred dog when they could rescue one of these sweet, happy creatures. Time to book a trip to Costa Rica.
