Princess Charlotte joined the rest of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour today, but the 3-year-old had a little mishap while celebrating Queen Elizabeth's birthday.
While she stood in front of Kate Middleton and Prince William waving right on cue, at one point the little royal appeared to stumble backwards — as if she fell off a small step she was standing on.
Watch the moment below:
Like any toddler would do, she immediately burst into tears, but luckily the Duchess of Cambridge was right there. Without a thought, Kate swooped in to check on her daughter, offering some reassuring words and patting her back.
Princess Charlotte isn't just any ol' 3-year-old though. She clearly has the resilience of her great-grandmother, because less than 30 seconds later she was ready to stand on her own again. If you blinked, you might have missed the whole ordeal because she went right back to applauding the royal flyby, even as dad Prince William and her cousin checked in her. Crisis averted!
A few eagle-eyed viewers noticed the moment — and were quick to credit Kate's parenting skills:
This is Princess Charlotte's third time attending Trooping the Colour. The past two years she's also gotten a spot front and center, although the first year she stayed in her mom's arms the entire time.
Prince George has also appeared at the annual celebration multiple times as well. but their newest sibling Prince Louis stayed home today. The 3-month-old baby probably wouldn't have appreciated the noisy crowds and planes too much. Fair enough!
When he does get a little older, he'll luckily have a cool big sister who can show him the ropes — and give him a few tips on where to stand.
