A lot of products come and go in our Consumer Electronics and Engineering Lab, but one crossed our path recently that really caught our eye: . An affordable and aesthetic smart home product, Kuna is a new security camera and outdoor light that alerts homeowners when a visitor is waiting at their door. The fixture can recognize suspicious activity, package deliveries, and more. When something's happening, it will send you a notification on your smartphone, whether you're home or not. You can also monitor the camera feed from anywhere on your smartphone, and yes, even respond to your visitor. It features a two-way intercom and an alarm with the ability to pre-record responses.
This looks like it has potential to be a great tool to communicate with guests when you can't get to the door, and more importantly, a good way to deter unwanted or even potentially dangerous visitors by letting them know you are home — all without an in-person confrontation. In other good news, you don't have to be an AV pro to install this; it's a DIY setup and this system can just replace your current outdoor light.
Interested? Kuna just launched a to support further development. You can pre-order yours for $99.
