We're still in the middle of an extended '90s resurgence, complete with mulled wine hair a la Claire Danes in My So-Called Life and Polly Pocket-inspired accessories. But Emma Stone channeled a different vintage era with her latest hair style: the '80s.
Yes, the actress did the unthinkable — she went got a perm. And there's photo evidence to prove it, courtesy of makeup artist account. According to People, Goodwin shared several photos of the process, including an adorable selfie of both women decked out in foam rollers like extras from the "Beauty School Dropout" scene in Grease.
Only instead of a frizzed-out mass of hair, Stone wound up with enviable waves.
This hair style looks like the result of an idyllic afternoon spent surfing on a beach in California rather than sitting in a salon chair.
So, if perms are indeed back in style, as Goodwin and Stone claim, at least we can be glad they can be a bit more subtle if you'd like. Perhaps the most shocking thing about this look is that it's pretty different for Stone. She actually does change her hair quite a bit, but she's most synonymous with the mid-length reddish blonde that most would likely consider her signature.
When she does opt for waves, they're typically more defined.
Perms are all well and good, but we're totally blaming Stone if we see shoulder pads in stores again soon!
